It should be named All Life matters until I saw so many controversies over that title while there is currently a fight for Black life matters. Trying to observe it in a rational and non partial way, we cannot judge those #alllifematters over #blacklifematters as at the end of the day, it may come back to protecting all the races. Maybe the #blacklifematters is a step towards No racism around the world and we should let that flow.
Racism
The beginning of all these fights and talks and protest is Racism. So what would be racism to you? Easy, if you go to any dictionary, it states that racism is an act of prejudice or discrimination towards members of a certain racial or ethnic group. It is believing that certain races are inferior to others. It is the belief that it is rightful to dominate on others and it can be also the hatred or intolerance of another race or others races.
The history behind
Currently, the world is talking about the video whereby the black man who was tortured and killed by the white policeman. Unfortunately, this was not the first time it happened but call it luck; this video went viral and people have taken actions since then. But then will that be the last time such thing happens? Racism against black people has started long back during slavery time when the white dominant countries such as America or countries of Europe were bringing people from Africa to be their slaves. Since back then, the idea of the white being superior to the black had already started. Other lifes as well ...
Yet, this is not the only racism in the world. Let's say, we live in a specific community whereby all of us have the same traits and color. If an individual comes who is of different color, culture or religion, that community will be by default treating that individual differently, distrust him. Being someone of color, I have been through ages been judged, people have laughed at my skin color, joked about my cultural background and accent. Yes, I have not been beaten or tortured - lucky enough!
So yes, the battle that the Americans are fighting cannot be compared to small act of racism that other types of people may face in every day life. People in other countries are not being killed for being a certain color. Yes, We should all be supporting Americans to fight the racism against the black. However, I believe that the Americans have taken the first step with #blacklifematters, but all countries should also take steps to eradicate racism completely in our vocabulary with all life matter.
What is to be done
The first thing is to educate people and specially children; if from small, we educate the children that we are all the same, yes color is different but same as a rainbow which makes it beautiful to see. We should teach them that they are not more or less beautiful because of their color, they are beautiful as they are. We should teach them that they should makes friends with everyone because there is something new to learn about all of them rather than trying to avoid them.
The second thing is to talk about it, make it loud and make it known. We need to get rid of stereotypes and the only way to do that is to prove the contrary to people. Such as Islands people are known to be lazy - No, just because they have the beach and enjoy going to the seaside, does not mean that this is all that they do. So many island people are very successful working in different fields around the world. South America is known for the drugs - no it is not all about drugs, the countries in south America are beautiful and have so many natural spots; All Indians are not Hindu, there are many different religion in that country; People in the middle support violence and women are oppressed -NO, most of them believe in peace, have a very high level of respect towards the ladies and are very open minded. We will not know, if we do not read about other cultures, if we do not learn to listen with open minds.
Colorful Fishes
It is time for us with the first step of the #blacklifematters to take the next one which is to appreciate each and every one of us, to welcome the fact that we are all of different colors. Just like we as human we contemplate fishes of different colors in the sea swimming together, the more colors, the prettier as in the ends, they are all fishes for us - the more colors living together, the prettier the humanity will look.
