Milan is part of the Lombardy region of Italy. Though not the capital of Italy, it is considered world wide as the capital of fashion and designers with the numerous fashion shows and the numerous luxury designers in the city.
The city together with the country is facing rough times today, Italy being the first country of the European union to be so vastly affected. I feel lucky that I have been able realize my dreams of going to Italy last year before the pandemic arises. I am bringing you with me to my trip to Italy starting with Milan in the hope that w can go again soon.
I did not have much time and I took 24 hours to visit this beautiful city. It started with an amazing Lunch in a classic and Italian style restaurant. I already felt I was in Italy. I obviously had a pizza 😂

I took the tram to go to the center of this city as there lies all the beauty of the monuments and buildings. I remember strolling through this city, under the warm sun; I felt free and happy.

I went of course to the "Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II" - Major landmark of Milan but above all, it is considered as the oldest and still active shopping mall of Italy. Only being in the middle and contemplating the infrastructure on the walls made me imagine the long history that it holds. While taking pictures, I saw a crowd of people, watching one by one turning on themselves. I later realized that they were spinning on a mosaic Turin bull which is called the "Toro di Milano"- it said it would people spinning on it, good luck and making dreams come true. Thanks to my quick search on google, here I went, trying my luck.
I eventually ended up with the Milan Cathedral which is just next to the Gallery. This place was full of people, no way to take a picture without anyone in the background. However you better understand why by being there. The cathedral is such a beauty. So many tourist and even Milanese, enjoying the amazing weather of that day together by admiring this beautiful cathedral and listening to the soothing street musicians.

Next stop was a must see in my to-see list. It is called the "L.O.V.E di Cattelan". It is a thirteen foot high Giant Middle finger. It is a quite new statue - built in 2010 and it is said that it was dedicated to the bankers and financiers - which were actually found in that particular square. Besides the strong message of this statue, the little rebel in me had to see this statue and obviously take a picture.

Sunset was around the corner and we decided to finish it along the riverside of the city. It is of course something young people in Europe normally does and which I had enjoyed previously while being in Paris. Milan night by the river was something similar, group of young people showing their dance talent, their songs. I had a beer and some chips and sat down along the river. I knew Milan was a good idea and it did not disappoint me. I love the feeling that this City gives off, I love the structures of the building and the history. I got used to it in such a short time and would love to stay more.
After a long night and short sleep, it was time for me to take the train to my new destination. The central station was the last thing to contemplate before I leave. I would definitely take any opportunity to go back one day and I wish this city to recover as soon as possible.
I will end up with this quote which suits this city and its history:
"Milan is a true Metropolis: strong and fearless but welcoming, too. Little by little, came to realize that I could become someone here" Giorgio Armani.
